What are BLE Driver Buttons
BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Driver Buttons are a simple, hands-on way for drivers to log important moments by triggering events. Easily paired via Bluetooth to the Raven device, they take only moments to set up.
Note: This feature requires the purchase of additional hardware via the Raven sales team please contact sales@ravenconnected.com for more information.
Pairing a Button
- Start the vehicle allowing Raven to boot up.
- Press and hold the Raven's power button until the shutdown countdown completes then release.
- Once the Raven shuts down and powers back on, it will enter scanning mode. This is indicated by a flashing blue icon on the left-hand status panel.
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button for 5–7 seconds. The Raven will detect and automatically pair with the button. A toast message will confirm successful pairing.
- The icon will change to green, indicating the button is connected and ready to use.
Using the Button
Engine On
Pressing the button will flash the Raven's screen and start a 30-second countdown on the left-hand side of the screen. Pressing the button again during this countdown will restart the timer back to 30 seconds extending the event.
When the button is triggered by the driver, an event will show up in the Web App, in the same way that all other events are surfaced.
Engine Off
Pressing the button will activate the Raven and record a 30-second video.
Note: The Raven's screen will remain off, but the recording will still occur.
Button Disconnection
If the button disconnects (e.g., due to a dead battery or moving out of range), the button icon on the Raven will turn red.
Reconnect the button
Press the Bluetooth button while in range of the Raven. The Raven will attempt to reconnect and log an event once connected.
Resetting the Button
If you need to reset the button to factory settings:
- Remove the battery (see the "Replacing Batteries" section below).
- Reinsert the battery.
- Within 5 seconds, press and hold the Bluetooth button for 10 seconds.
This will return the button to its default settings, clearing any pairings or configurations.
Replacing Batteries
If a Bluetooth button battery dies, they are easy to replace. CR2032 3V Lithium Batteries can be purchased from anywhere batteries are sold.
- To replace a battery, simply open the battery hatch by sticking the button to a surface and twisting it counter-clockwise
- Remove the old battery and replace it with a new CR2032 battery, with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Place the cap back on top and twist clockwise until it clicks.
- Press the button to confirm that the button is working. If a Raven device is nearby and powered on, the button should automatically reconnect.
Notes:
- Only one button may be paired with a Raven at a time. Pairing a new button will unpair the existing one.
- A single button should not be paired to multiple Ravens, as it can only be actively connected to one at a time.
- If you're moving a button to a different Raven, it is recommended to factory reset the button before pairing it again.
