Retrieving Video Footage from Your Raven Device Follow
- The first step should be to access the event video from the cloud. Navigate to the ‘Trip Review’ tab in the web app and search the calendar for the trip. Select the ‘possible impact’ alert or ‘harsh braking’ alert associated with the collision. Download the footage via the preview box in the Details panel.
- If additional context around the event is needed or there wasn't enough impact to trigger the alert use Enhanced Video Access to retrieve footage.
- As a stop-gap measure if needed you can still pull the continuous footage from the device.
*If there are issues uploading videos to your cloud account, please have the driver perform a manual RESTART of that particular Raven.
**If restarting Raven does not allow remote retrieval of the short video clips, gently DISCONNECT Raven from your vehicle so it no longer records to the internal memory or SD card (if applicable).
If you need to recover raw video footage from your Raven device, follow the steps below depending on whether or not an SD card is inserted in the unit.
🔌 Option 1: Retrieving Footage Without an SD Card
-
Disconnect Raven from the vehicle by gently unplugging it from the OBD cable.
-
Connect Raven to a Windows computer using a Micro USB 2.0 cable with data transfer capabilities (not just a charging cable).
-
Ensure Raven is powered on and displaying widgets.
-
If the screen is blank, press the small square button next to the cable port of the unit to turn it on.
-
-
Once powered on, Raven should appear as a storage device in Windows File Explorer.
-
⚠️ Note: Raven is not compatible with macOS for USB file access.
-
If the device doesn’t appear, try using a different cable or USB port on your computer.
-
💡 If the raw footage has been overwritten, check the Time-Lapse or Short Video folders — these directories are stored separately and may still contain relevant clips.
💾 Option 2: Retrieving Footage with an SD Card
-
Remove the SD card from the Raven unit.
-
Insert the card into a computer using an SD card reader (ensure your device has the appropriate slot, or have an adapter on hand).
-
Open the SD card in your file browser and locate the video directories.
-
Copy any required footage from the available folders to your computer.
📁 As with Option 1, if raw footage is missing or overwritten, be sure to review the Time-Lapse and Short Video folders — they may contain backup clips of the event in question.
