Tags Migration Follow
Introduction
We’re excited to introduce Tags, a powerful new way to manage permissions on your Raven Devices. While your account may look a little different at first, rest assured that this update was thoughtfully designed to improve the visibility over user permissions and account management. It may take a moment to get familiar with Tags, but this feature will ultimately enhance your ability to organize and control access.
What Are Tags?
Tags are a way to group Raven Devices and users together based on their permissions. Each configuration of permissions in your existing setup has been assigned a Tag based on how you’ve previously shared Ravens with others.
Here is a brief overview of the new Tags feature:
Key Changes to the Admin Menu
The Admin menu has been expanded to include:
- Ravens – View and manage your Raven Devices.
- Users – Manage the users who have access to your Ravens.
- Tags – Organize Ravens and users into permission-based groups.
- Profile – Manage account settings like email, password, theme, unit of measure, and billing details.
Find more information in the Tags Spotlight guide.
Where to Find Tags
- Vehicles Menu: Tags will appear in multiple locations, including the Vehicles pop-out and the Vehicle Details panel.
- Reports & Event Review: You’ll now see the option to filter by Tag, making it easier to analyze data based on user-defined groups.
Managing Tags
What to Expect
When you first access the feature, you will notice a set of automatically generated Tags based on how you have previously shared Raven Devices with users. If you have consistently shared the same Ravens with the same group of users, your Tags will likely be well-structured. If not, adjustments may be desired.
Actions You Can Take
Please note for full instructions on each action please refer to the Tags Spotlight.
1. Renaming Tags
- Navigate to the Tags menu.
- Click the pencil icon beside the Tag name.
- Enter the new name and save your changes.
2. Modifying Tag Assignments
- Click the pencil icon next to the Tag name.
- Use the checkboxes to add or remove users and vehicles from that Tag.
- Note: If a user has access to the ‘All Tag,’ they cannot be removed from a sub-Tag.
- Note: The system will warn you if you remove a user from their last Tag as it will remove them from your account. To add the user back simply reinvite them using the User menu item. They will not need to recreate their credentials.
3. Delete and Recreate Tags
If your Tags don’t align with your needs, you can start fresh:
- Delete existing Tags by clicking the garbage can icon next to each Tag. Deleting a Tag also removes users if they were only assigned to that Tag.
- Create new Tags to reflect your desired permissions.
-
Invite users back through the Users menu item
- New users will receive an email invitation to sign up.
- Returning users can sign in with their existing permissions and will see the devices they’ve been granted access to on the map.
